From the site owner:

We are a Spanish startup and what we want is to create a new way of fundraising for NGOs. The first way we have figured out for doing it is by creating a platform where consumers review many products, services or whatever they want. And, because we know all these reviews and personal data have a great value, users get in exchange a micropayment for the NGO they choose when creating their profiles.
Reviewing with Valioo is really quick and easy: you first search want you want to review on, then you choose the stars with which you want to evaluate it; choose those tags that highlight how you feel about it or also write in 50 characters what you want, and you’re finished!
Where does the money for the donations come from?
What Valioo offers to all the companies is a quality control and marketing tool, a tool that allows them getting feedback from their clients and giving them something in exchange. They can subscribe a free or a pro plan and, whether they choose the one or the other, they have to pay for the reviews of customers. They can fix a minimum of 0.25 € per review. Valioo earns money when companies subscribe the pro plan; we don’t keep anything from the money of the reviews.
The site is available in English and Spanish, so Valioo works anywhere. We are in a starting stage and we are contacting Spanish companies, at first, to use our product. This does not mean that someday, not far from now, it will work in other countries.

Zack’s take:

This is the first time I see this model in action. Fabulous idea. By converting product and service reviews into donations to non-profits, everyone wins. The site still needs to grow beyond the Spanish borders but if it catches on it will be a great example of social entrepreneurship. For this reason alone I really hope the site works out. My suggestion to Valioo… finish translating the site! Anyway, all that aside, the site is intuitive enough to get you signed up and download the iphone app but it took watching the video to understand the model completely. Also it would be helpful if the profile page for the business (restaurants etc…) were a little more complete since the reviews are typically one liners. My only low score is for content but only because the site is new and there aren’t enough NGO’s and businesses yet.
